MOHAMMAD KASSEM & YOUSIF ABDULSAID 2023

SIF in Dialogue with from nothingness

A Live floral installation performance by the florist from nothingness.

SIF in dialogue with from nothingness is a collaboration between two practices, an intersection of two worlds experimenting with softness in our built environment. SIF invites from nothingness to inhabit the House / Home installation with their floristry and their interpretation of how we dwell. Building on the idea of a floating architecture that adjusts itself to each of its surroundings, this collaboration expands the House / Home project to accommodate a new inhabitant. The spatial subdivision at the Sultan Gallery is reconfigured to accommodate the floral installation, giving a new life to the exhibition.

 Inhabiting HOUSE / HOME:

“My home, my dreams - floral installation from nothingness”

This installation is an ode to connectivity; just like trees and plants, dreams can form from a network of subconscious thoughts, sensations, feelings & memories that communicate with each other in lucid form in order to survive and tell a story. A story that shapes and inhabits this space to expand the boundary between physical and phenomenological discourse.

“I’ve been creating imaginary homes since I was a kid, a home for each thought and each dream magical home where I roam free.”

 - The florist from nothingness

Materials: Flowers & plants including: Carnation, Craspedia, Lily, Amaranth, Wild grass Alstroemeria, Leucospermum, Gladiolus, Dried palm leaves, other foliage
