ARCHITECTS AT PLAY 2006

These twelve pieces are investigations into a question that has occupied the latter half of my academic career, as a master student at the University of Pennsylvania: How can an architectural drawing transcend its functional purpose and become a work of art? These collages are studies of a studio project, investigating the idea of a museum as a container of works of art. Some of these collages are site investigations, while others are studies of program. In some cases, architectural elements - stairs, walls, panels, and floors- are used as pieces inserted at whim, while others are more true to architectural function. Some of these collages have successfully moved beyond the architectural drawing, while still capturing its essence.
